​Food and Donation Drive This Week

The Academy, a Martial Arts & fitness center and community space, is holding a food and donation drive this week. All donations will go to MACC Charities to provide food for their Community Emergency Food Pantry and their community outreach programs which provide food and basic necessities to those who find themselves unsheltered this winter.

The Academy is hosting two different events this week that are free with a donation to the drive. A “Street Smart Self Defense Clinic” which provides simple, but incredibly effective ways to prevent and stop attacks, and an introduction to Dungeons and Dragons for community members curious about what the game is and how it is played. Hosting free events is not new to The Academy, which regularly holds free self defense seminars throughout the year. “It’s one way The Academy supports the people in this community, helping them to live happier, healthier lives,” says Joel Waldron, school owner and Grandmaster instructor. “Our goal is always to help people reach their full potential, whether it’s through Martial Arts classes, or events like our self defense seminars.”
Members of the community are welcome to drop off donations at The Academy any time this week between 4pm and 8pm. A list of most needed items can be found on their website www.TheAcademy.us Please note, the main entrance is at the back of the building at 1404 Tolland Turnpike in Manchester. Visitors are always welcome at the facility to see the space available for community events or watch classes in progress.
