Four Manchester Residents Performing Lead Roles with Connecticut Concert Ballet

From Fairytale characters to examining Life Forces around us, Connecticut Concert Ballet's spring showcase really moves

Graduating seniors Ella Guinan and Sarah Patulak are both students at Glastonbury High School in the Agricultural Science program. Sarah, who has danced at CCB for 15 years will be performing a featured role in Lorelei Chang's new work "Life Force". Ella who has danced at CCB for 14 years will dance the roll of Goldilocks in an excerpt from the classical ballet "Sleeping Beauty".

Leanne Baldwin and Maricel Thongmanivong will dance the role of Jewel Fairies.

CCB’s Spring show presents eclectic repertory and premiere works that highlight classical and contemporary dance technique including classical ballet, contemporary ballet, modern dance and jazz. Professionally staged with full costumes and lighting, performances are intended to appeal to audiences of all ages and pleases lovers of multiple genres of dance.

Performances will be held at the state of the art Bailey Auditorium, Manchester High School, 134 Middle Turnpike East, on Saturday, May 14 (6 p.m.) and Sunday, May 15 (1:30 p.m.).

Audiences will be treated to:

-Excerpts from the ballet SLEEPING BEAUTY - Classical ballet enchanted with Fairytale characters. This year featuring Guest Artists Kristy DuBois as Princess Aurora, David DuBois as Prince Désiré and Azamat Asangul in the virtuoso role of The Bluebird
-HOME - An original new ballet performed by the Connecticut Concert Ballet Pre-Professional Ensemble which examines injustice and discrimination in the world around us and looks to a brighter future for all
-Creative and exciting new pieces choreographed by faculty members Lorelei Chang and Christina Shortt featuring the dancers of CCB's Modern and Jazz programs; LIFE FORCE and GET ON YOUR FEET

Connecticut Concert Ballet is a semi-professional 501(c)(3) classical ballet school and performing arts organization with studios in Manchester on the Glastonbury line and in Windsor at the Loomis Chaffee School. It has 300 students from over 40 towns in the Greater Hartford, northern and eastern areas of the state. CCB brings fully staged ballet and dance productions to audiences from all over Connecticut twice a year including the Nutcracker in December and a spring production in May. CCB is a multi-year winner of “Best Dance Lessons” in Hartford Magazine’s “Best of” readers’ poll.

CCB offers a robust, year-round schedule of classes in ballet, modern and jazz for ages 3 to adult. Connecticut Concert Ballet proudly employs the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum.
