Free Asthma Screening For Adults At InterCommunity Health Fair

The InterCommunity Health Fair is fun for the entire family. Free Food and Activities.

Hartford, CT.
By Shelly Sindland
InterCommunity Health Care is offering free asthma screenings for adults this year at its annual health fair the North End of Hartford.

“People living in Hartford are at a greater risk for asthma according to national studies,” said Kim Beauregard, President and CEO of InterCommunity Health Care. ”We are here to help Hartford residents manage their health care needs. If they do have asthma, we want to make sure that they are getting treatment.”

The health fair will be August 15th from 11 am to 2 pm at InterCommunity’s health care center located at 16 Coventry Street in Hartford--weather permitting. Adults who receive a free asthma screening will get a $6 voucher for fresh fruits and vegetables at the farmer’s market happening down the street on the same day. There will also be free beef patties from Scotts’ Jamaican Bakery and fun for the whole family, including music, kid activities and a fire safety booth and apparatus display by Hartford fire fighters.

“The mission behind our health fair is to highlight the importance of community health centers,” said Beauregard. “A lot of our patients never had a primary care provider until they came to us. We know how important it is to have one provider manage all your health care needs instead of getting bounced around from place to place.“
