Gas Tanker Blows Up In Manchester After Collision With Car
A tanker truck turned into a fireball on a stretch of Interstate 84 in Manchester over the weekend after tangling with a car.

MANCHESTER, CT — A tanker truck full of gasoline blew up after it collided with a passenger vehicle and rolled over on Interstate 84 in Manchester Sunday.
The crash occurred at about 9 p.m.on the eastbound side of the highway neat Exit 60, Manchester fire officials said.
The tanker was "fully loaded" with 8,300 gallons of gas, fire officials said. It rolled over after the collision and several explosions ensued, forcing firefighters to set up "a defensive operation," fire officials said.

The decision was then made to, "let the fire burn itself out," fire officials said.
Three people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

Despite a large volume of fire, there were minimal environmental impacts and minimal damage to the highway itself, officials said.
