Geno Auriemma Buying Landmark Manchester Restaurant

MANCHESTER, CT — University of Connecticut women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma is buying a landmark restaurant in Manchester he has been frequenting for years.

Cavey's management confirmed the news on Friday afternoon.

Cavey's is located at 45 East Center Street.

Aureimma owns several restaurants in the state, including Geno’s Grille in Storrs and basketball-themed eateries at Mohegan Sun.

The owners of Caveys listed the restaurant for sale in June. Steve Cavagnaro's grandparents opened the restaurant in 1933.

Cavey's last day is tentatively slated for May 24 and there will be a transition period once it changes hands, management said. Auriemma has been a frequent diner at Cavey's "for several years," management said.
