Hartford Shockers Put Up 150-Plus Points In Official ECBL Opener

The East Catholic gym proved to be a good track for the Hartford Shockers' run-and-gun offense Saturday.

MANCHESTER, CT — At his team's preseason media day, Hartford Shockers head coach Donovin Ford-Hayes hinted that the team's high-powered offense could be putting up some huge numbers on the scoreboard. Well, try more than 150 for starters.

The Shockers scored 52 points in the first quarter, built a 44-point halftime lead and sprinted to a 159-96 win over the Lehigh Valley Flight to officially open their 2022 East Coast Basketball League campaign Saturday at East Catholic High School.

The shockers led 52-13 after the first quarter, then 84-40 at the half.

Eight of the 10 players who suited up for the Shockers scored in double digits. Josiah Kimball led the way with 25 points on 11-of-12 shooting from the floor.

The two local connections had stellar openers. Former Rockville High School and Eastern Connecticut State University star Tarchee Brown had 23 points while former Southern Connecticut star Tylon Smith, a teacher in the Manchester public school system, finished with 22.

Malik Petteway had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds and Chaise Daniels had 21 points.
