MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester could soon get an indoor cannabis growing business inside an industrial park.

Planning officials Tuesday said that a Planning and Zoning application has been submitted that requests a special exception permit to operate a state licensed indoor cannabis micro cultivator facility at 84 Colonial Road.

The property is also known on some municipal maps as 82 Colonial Road and sits at the corner of Colonial Road and Progress Drive.

According to the state's website, micro-cultivators are licensed to engage in the "cultivation, growing and propagation of the cannabis plant" at an establishment that is between 2,000 square feet and 10,000 square feet of "grow space," prior to any expansion authorized by the Department of Consumer Protection commissioner.

Once licensed, the micro-cultivator may expand up to 25,000 square feet or convert to "cultivator" status if it expands to more than 25,000 square feet of "grow space," according to state regulations.
