I remember the day like it was yesterday. Two young kids got married, it was actually a forgone conclusion, as I told Gail’s mom and grandmother, two weeks after we met, that I was going to marry Gail. How crazy was that. They must have thought what a nut case.
Gail was 15 and I was 17, that is how crazy, dated 5 years, engaged 14 months and married 44 years. This was certainly a case of opposites, but nothing could have ever gotten in the way of our destiny. It has been and continues to be a special love affair. I just don’t know if it is possible to love someone more completely.
As I share this, Frank Sinatra’s song, “My Way” comes to mind and one particular passage. “Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew I bit off more than I could chew, but through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and stood tall and did it my way”. Hopefully that is somewhat correct.
To Gail, thank you for making me the complete man that I am, you are truly the best wife, friend and lover that this man could ever have. Your heart is filled with kindness and strength and may we share many more years together. I love you with all my heart and soul.
