Lucky Taco In Manchester Closes, Vernon Restaurant Staying

MANCHESTER, CT — A pillar of Mexican cuisine in Downtown Manchester has been shuttered, but its owners are forging ahead with their location in Vernon.

The owners of Lucky Taco made the announcement Sunday.

"After almost nine years on Main Street, we are sad to announce we have closed our flagship Manchester location," the owners said in a social media post.

It was an all-too-familiar reason.

"This decision was made after long and careful consideration of where we've come and where we are going," the owners said. "The burden of running this small business in the aftermath of COVID proved too much for us to bear. The amazing staff was very much involved in this decision and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart for the love, care, and kindness they put in to every shift they worked."

The Manchester Lucky Taco was located at 829 Main St. The Vernon location is off state Route 30 at the junction of East Street.

"We will keep our Vernon location open and, although it is different in style, the amazing tacos you've grown to love can be found there," ownership said. "We appreciate all of the incredible guests we've had the privilege to serve and spend time with, the employees from the very beginning who we've just absolutely loved, and the amazing holidays, snow days, renovation support ... the list of things to be thankful for is miles long.

"It's a sad day indeed, but we are so thankful for all of you who have loved us for so long."

The recent closing of Pancho Loco in Route 83 in Vernon has put Lucky Taco in a more competitive position in the Mexican food market in Vernon. Its location near the Tolland line positions itself to easily service two towns, and even Coventry residents using the Exit 67 interchange in Interstate 84.

Another Mexican eatery — Fiesta Mexicana, is located a few miles down Route 83 closer to the Vernon Circle area.
