MANCHESTER, CT — A 23-year-old man, who was shopping at a Manchester grocery store Saturday night, accidentally shot himself, police said.

Police said the man's movement caused the gun to accidentally go off inside the local Stop & Shop.

He was shot "in the groin area" and was taken to Hartford Hospital. He was in stable condition over the weekend, police said.

The man had a permit for the gun, and both it and the firearm were confiscated, police said.
