Man Arrested in Baseball Bat Rampage at Manchester Town Hall Appears in Court

He was arraigned in court on a high bond Wednesday.

MANCHESTER, CT — A man arrested on Tuesday after going on a rampage at Manchester Town Hall with a baseball bat failed to post a $100,000 bond after his arraignment in Manchester Superior Court, a clerk at the court said.

Corey Robinson, 32, of 35 Lilac St. Manchester, appeared in court on Wednesday. His case was continued until Feb. 23, a clerk at the court said.

Police said on Tuesday at about 3 p.m. that a man walked into Manchester Town Hall, 41 Center St., armed with a baseball bat. The man then proceeded to start smashing out the glass on various display cabinets in Town Hall using the baseball bat, police said.

Town Hall workers were confined to their officers in a lockdown status as the incident was unfolding, police said. When Officers arrived on scene, the suspect was sitting on a staircase and "provided passive resistance" as they attempted to handcuff him.

Police at first were attempting to identify the man and released his picture.

He was eventually identified as Robinson. He was charged with:

  • Criminal Mischief
  • Second-degree breach of peace
  • Failure to submit to fingerprinting
  • Interfering with police
  • Carrying a dangerous weapon
