Man Arrested For Doing 120 and Beyond in an Infinity on I-84 With Kids in the Car

Troopers caught up to him in East Hartford.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A man was arrested after speeding through an east-of-the river section of Interstate-84 at better than 120 mph with kids in the car, state police said.

On Saturday, troopers from the Troop H Barracks were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on I-84 westbound when they observed a 2005 Infiniti G35 being operated at a high rate of speed, state police said.

Troopers used laser to clock the vehicle's speed and it registered at 123 mph in a 55 mph zone, state police.

Troopers stopped the car near exit 58, state police said. Three children in the back seat ages ages 5, 9, and 12, state police said.

They were not injured, state police said.

The vehicle operator, Ricardo Torres, 41, was charged with reckless driving, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, and four counts of reckless endangerment, state police said. He is from Terryville, state police said.

He is due in Manchester Superior Court on Dec. 13, stare police said.
