Man Gets 20 Days for Fatal Crash That Killed Manchester Teen

A man was sentenced for a role in a 2013 crash that killed a Manchester teen.

MANCHESTER, CT — An East Hartford man was sentenced to 20 days in jail on Tuesday for his role in a 2013 fatal crash in East Hartford, court records indicate.

According to police and court records, Gustavo Moreno, 25, was speeding and passing another vehicle that then crashed into a third vehicle on July 14, 2013. Ma'Andrew Evans-Swain, 16, of Manchester and 18-year-old East Hartford resident Robert Swain were killed as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the car that crashed, 21-year-old Eric Watson, received a four-year sentence for second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle in the case.

He had been accused of drunken driving with bad brakes and tires, according to police and court records.

Moreno entered a guilty plea to a reckless driving charge on Tuesday, court records show.
