Man Jumps on Hood of Car After Manchester Shoplifting Incident

Two women were arrested after they fled police. A male customer jumped on the suspects' car hood.

On 09/01/15, around 4:15 PM, Manchester Police responded to Stop & Shop located at 286 Broad Street for an active shoplifting complaint. A female suspect had been observed by store security, concealing items in her purse before exiting the store.

Outside of the store, security approached the suspect and a brief altercation ensued between the two. A male customer was just arriving at the store and witnessed this altercation. The female suspect then ran to her vehicle which was parked in the lot, and the male customer/witness stood in front of the vehicle in an attempt to keep it from moving. The suspect began driving forward and the customer/witness went up onto the suspect vehicle’s hood, where he began holding onto as she was driving away. The window sustained damage as he was able to punch a hole into the windshield while riding on top of the hood of the vehicle.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed the suspect vehicle (a tan Buick) fleeing from the scene, with the male witness spread across the hood of the vehicle, holding on. The suspect vehicle continued to exit the parking lot, and the male stayed on the hood until he was able to jump off in the area of Meineke Muffler on Broad Street. He sustained a minor injury to his wrist and leg during the incident.
