Man 'Smelling of Cigarettes' Checks into Hotel Lobby in Manchester With Gun, Checks Out With Nothing: Police

MANCHSTER, CT — Manchester police are investigating a attempted armed robbery at the Extended Stay American Hotel.

The incident took place at 1:38 a.m. Tuesday, police said. The hotel is located at 340 Toll;and Turnpike.

The suspect is being described by police as a clean-shaven white male in his late 40s, about 5-foot-8 and betyween 150 and 170 pounds. Police said he was wearing a black hooded Timberland sweatshirt with the hood up, blue jeans and black rubber gloves.

The suspect displayed a handgun during the attempt but was unsuccessful and then fled from the scene without obtaining any money, police said.

The suspect was also described as smelling of cigarettes, police said.
