Manchester 2024 Election Results: Winners Emerging In Key Races

Here are the latest updates for the 2024 state and federal races in the Silk City.

MANCHESTER, CT — Shortly after the polls closed Tuesday night, vice President Kamala Harris was announced as the winner of Connecticut's seven electoral college votes, defeating former President Donald J. Trump and three other candidates, according to the Associated Press.

Also, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT, won re-election and a third term in Congress, according to projections. He defeated GOP challenger Matthew M. Corey and two other candidates.

Votes are still being counted in other key races, including the U.S. House of Representatives, and the state General Assembly races.

At the top of the ballot, residents were asked to vote on a referendum question that reads:

  • "Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?"

Key state and federal races are:

U.S. House

  • Democratic: John B. Larson
  • Republican: Jim Griffin
  • Green Party: Mary L. Sanders

Despite just 40 percent of the precincts reporting, Fox61 declared longtime Democratic incumbent John Larson the victor over Republican challenger Jim Griffin and Green Party candidate Mary Sanders in the battle for the District 1 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
