Manchester Apartments Evacuated Because of Gas Leak

MANCHESTER, CT — Residents of an apartment building along Oakland Street had to be evacuated Wednesday morning because of a gas leak, authorities said.

Oakland Street was closed between Rachel Road and Tutor Lane because of a situation with an underground gas line, authorities said.

The evacuation was precautionary and no one reported being ill, authorities said.

Gas company crews were at the scene.
