ORLANDO, FL — Seven Connecticut Pop Warner teams are headed to Orlando this weekend to compete for national championships in the 66th Annual Pop Warner Super Bowl at Camping World Stadium, including two from Manchester.

The local teams on their way to Florida are:

  • Waterbury Patriots, D1 9U
  • Hartford Hurricanes, D1 11U & 12U
  • Manchester Red Hawks, D2 11U & 13U
  • Amity Spartans, D2 9U
  • West Haven Seahawks, D2 12U

The Pop Warner Super Bowl is made up of 88 football teams from across the country that earn a spot in the nationals, where they compete in either Division I and Division II in six different age or age-weight brackets.

To advance to the Pop Warner Super Bowl, a team must win its League and Regional Championships.

Each advancing team is guaranteed to play two games at the Super Bowl, with a National Champion being crowned in each bracket on Dec. 8 (D2) and Dec. 9 (D1).

The Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships, in its 36th year, will feature more than 500 cheer and dance teams who compete at a four-day-long event.
