Manchester Cops: Trio Caught Red-Handed Breaking into Car

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police snagged three people rummaging through a car early Thursday morning after they essentially committed crimes in front of a resident sitting on a front porch, a report indicates.

On Thursday at about 1:30 a.m, Manchester police officers responded to the area of Ridge and Arch streets after being alerted to three individuals attempting to enter a car, according to a police report.

There have been several thefts from unlocked cars in that area of town recently, police said.

A resident was sitting on a porch, heard a car alarm go off and then saw the three walking away from the car, according to a police report.

Residents then started to follow the three suspects, police said.

The suspects turned around to confront the residents and they returned home to wait for police, a report indicates.

When officers arrived at the on scene, the suspects fled on foot in different directions but were chased down.
Arrested were:

  • Dwight Henry, 18, of Hartford.
  • Luis Miguel Rivera, 23, of Hartford.
  • A 16-year-old male from Manchester.

All three individuals were charged with; 

  • First-degree criminal trespass.
  • Breach of peace.
  • Interfering with police.
  • Criminal liability for the act of another.
  • Criminal Attempt to Commit sixth-degree.

Rivera and Henry were processed and were being held Thursday morning on a $25,000 surety bonds with court dates of Sept. 15, police said.

The juvenile was issued a juvenile summons and released to his mother, police said.
