Manchester Driver Blows Past Crossing Guard in Vernon: Cops

A warrant had been issued for the man's arrest.

VERNON, CT — A Manchester man is facing eight criminal charges for allegedly blowing though a crossing guard's stop sign in Vernon, according to an arrest report.

Rory Black, 34, of 210 Pine Street, Manchester, was taken into custody by Manchester police at 8 p.m. on Thursday, according to an arrest report. Manchester police then verified that a warrant had been issued for his arrest and handed Black off to Vernon police, an arrest report indicates.

According to an arrest report, he failed to stop for a school crossing guard. The exact location was not disclosed in an arrest report.

Black has been charged with:

  • Risk of injury to a child (two counts)
  • Second-degree reckless endangerment
  • Reckless Driving
  • Failure to stop for a school crossing guard
  • Evading responsibility
  • Failure to grant the right of way
  • A no passing zone violation
  • A stop sign violation

He is due in court on May 9, according to an arrest report.
