Billings said that the crew was concerned about the remaining family members and “felt that they needed to do something.”
“This is quite common for our personnel,” he said. “They are caring and compassionate. They are driven to get the best possible outcome for every bad situation. Our responders consistently go above and beyond the usual standards of customer service. The citizens of Manchester deserve no less than our maximum effort.”
Ryan Bilodeau, of the Manchester Fire Department, told WFSB 3 that this is the reason he got into the field in the first place.
“None of us do it for the money,” Bilodeau told WFSB 3. “It’s all about serving people in the best capacity that we can and I love doing this job.”
