Manchester GOP Chairman Struck, Killed By Car On Election Night
The Manchester Republican Town Committee chairman was struck and killed by a car on Election Night, police said.

MANCHESTER, CT — The Manchester Republican Town Committee chairman was struck and killed by a car on Election Night, police said.
Manchester Police spokesman Lt. Ryan Shea said that, at about 6:30 p.m., a person was fatally hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Hartford Road and Fairfield Street. He and and state GOP chairman J.R. Romano then confirmed the victim was Manchester Town Committee Chairman John Deeb.
He was 75.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, Shea said. In a report released at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said responding officers located Deeb in the road. He received treatment at the scene, then was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, a report indicates.

"It is with much sadness we announce the unexpected loss of our Manchester Town Committee Chairman, John Deeb. Chairman Romano and everyone at CTGOP sends our condolences to the family and friends of John. John was a great chairman who dedicated his time to Connecticut Republicans and his legacy will stay with our party forever. Please join us in offering his family thoughts and prayers at this difficult time."
When reached by phone, Romano said Deeb, "was a good man ... and will be missed."
Manchester police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call the traffic unit at 860-643-3342.
