Thayer Redman returned to work Nov. 23 after being placed on administrative leave and an unpaid suspension.

A popular Manchester High School gym teacher and track coach who had been on administrative leave and an unpaid suspension is back on the job, the Journal Inquirer reported.

Thayer Redman, the 2012 state Coach of the Year as selected by the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance, had been placed on administrative leave on Sept. 9, with no reason for the disciplinary action provided to the public.

A document obtained by the JI indicates Redman “physically blocked a student’s entry into the locker room,” as written by Assistant Superintendent Patricia Brooks.
