Manchester Health Department Hires Health Equity Coordinator.

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester has hired Amy Beaulieu as the local Health Department's new health equity coordinator.

The Health Equity Coordinator's primary responsibilities will include "providing leadership in the review and development of public health policy that will advance efforts to improve population health outcomes linked to underlying determinants, including unequal economic and social conditions, especially related to race/ethnicity, disability status, and/or urban or rural environments."

Beaulieu holds a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology and a master's degree in criminal justice from the University of Massachusetts—Lowell.

Beaulieu comes to Manchester from The Village for Children and Families in Hartford, where she
served as the clinical manager for the recently developed adult outpatient services program.
She developed and implemented the first Intensive Outpatient Mental Health Program at the Village.

She served four years of active duty in the United States Navy, including a brief tour in the United Arab Emirates during the Gulf War. Beaulieu is a combat service-connected disabled veteran who went on to serve as a police officer in Massachusetts for nearly seven years.

She has worked for both the Connecticut Department of Corrections and the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a psychologist for 12 years. Her roles included providing supervision, leadership, and program management oversight.

Jeffrey Catlett, Manchester's health director, said, "Dr. Beaulieu's unique skill set and diverse
experience working with underserved, diverse and vulnerable populations will help serve our
community as we continue to work to ensure health equality for the Town of Manchester."
