Manchester High School Briefly Evacuated Because Of Bomb Threat
A bomb threat was sent to Manchester High School Wednesday.
MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester High School was briefly evacuated Wednesday morning because of an anonymous, e-mailed bomb threat.
No injuries were reported.
Superintendent of School Matt Geary sent one of two messages to the public school community at 8:11 a.m. indicating the e-mail was sent to the Manchester High School school office Wednesday this morning. Geary said the email "did not include any details" but included the phrase "take me seriously."

A staff member immediately notified the principal who notified the police and the building was evacuated, Geary said.
Manchester police said the building is being swept and no explosives were located.

Geary, in a second message sent at 9:16 a.m., said students, teachers and staffers were safely back in the building.
Geary said, "Students and staff remained calm throughout the evacuation and we appreciate their cooperation. I understand that these kinds of events are scary for students, staff, parents, and families."
Geary said students who became unnerved by the threat were allowed to go home without being marked absent.
