Manchester Hooters Among U.S. Restaurants Being Shuttered

A rash of closings began last week and was extending into this week in the Hooters chain, including Manchester.

MANCHESTER, CT — Hooters in Manchester's Buckland Hills commercial district has closed its doors.

A lunchtime announcement was made Monday on social media. No one was answering the phone at the 1483 Pleasant Valley Road location, and restaurant searches online were indicating the location was "permanently closed."

A Facebook page message said, "After nearly two decades of hot wings, cold beer, and great memories Hooters of Manchester has made the difficult decision to close its doors. Thank you for the many years of patronage and loyalty. We encourage you to visit your favorite Hooters Girl at Hooters of Wethersfield or Hooters of West Springfield."

Last week, the Hooters chain began abruptly closing dozens of restaurants deemed underperforming across the U.S.

“Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision to close a select number of underperforming stores. Ensuring the well-being of our staff is our priority in these rare instances," Hooters said in a statement to Nation's Restaurant News, which first reported the news of the closures. "With new Hooters restaurants opening domestically and internationally, new Hooters frozen products launching at grocery stores, and the Hooters footprint expanding into new markets with both company and franchise locations, this brand of 41 years remains highly resilient and relevant. We look forward to continuing to serve our guests at home, on the go and at our restaurants here in the U.S. and around the globe."
