Manchester 'Letters' Designed To Thwart Holiday Loneliness

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester residents are rallying to combat loneliness this holiday season.

The effort is called "Dear Neighbor" holiday cards. They can be made out anonymously and will be dropped off to either residents of local nursing homes or those who are known to be alone for Christmas by "Santa."

Some Downtown Manchester are accepting the letters until noon on Dec. 22, including:

  • Ken O’Hara Insurance, 48 Purnell Place, Suite 10; Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Silk City Coffee, 763 Main St. (the mailbox is located in back of the restaurant); Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
