Manchester Man Accused of $20k Pellet Fuel Scheme Arrested

A Manchester man is accused of scheming a Southington company out of more than $20,000 by selling pellet fuel for cash and keeping the money for himself.

Tyler Wagoner, 25, was arrested on March 6 and charged with first-degree larceny.

The arrest warrant alleges that between June and October 2014 he worked as a sales representative at Dean’s Stove and Spa.

Managers learned that Wagoner was allegedly selling pellet fuel for cash and keeping the proceeds for himself, according to the warrant.

He allegedly would offer a discount on fuel when he sold a stove if the customer paid in cash. He would then write up a pick-up slip for the amount of pellets ordered, but would not register the transaction when the pellets were picked-up.

The total loss the business incurred is $20,122.30, according to police.

Wagoner was charged with first-degree larceny and was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
