Manchester Man Admits Role in Group Home Fire, Police Say

He is facing an arson charge for the group home fire.

MANCHESTER, CT — A resident of a Birch Street group home admitted setting a fire in the house because he did not want to be there, police told the Hartford Courant.

Kurt Alkire, 56, was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief, according to police records.

He was being held Thursday on bail of $150,000 and is to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Dec. 12, records indicate.
