VERNON, CT — A Manchester man is facing multiple charges after a wild ride through Tolland and Vernon on Christmas Eve, state police said.

David Daniel Vega, 21, of Manchester, was charged Saturday with reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, driving an unregistered vehicle, the improper use of a marker, interfering and second-degree reckless endangerment.

On Dec, 24, at 8:28 p.m., a trooper was on patrol on the westbound side of the highway between exits 68 and 69 when he saw a gray Infiniti whiz past him at a high rate of speed.

The Infiniti left the highway at Exit 67 and continued to speed through a section of Vernon, according to a warrant.

Two days later, a license plate reader in Manchester alerted police to the vehicle. When Vega was tracked down, he said he remembered being on the highway but added he did not see the state police cruiser's flashing lights.

State police then applied for a warrant.
