Manchester Man Charged in Connection With Fitness Club Thefts

He was arrested Tuesday at a Farmington club, and is suspected of committing similar thefts at fitness centers in two other towns as well.

FARMINGTON, CT — A suspect in a series of locker room and car thefts from multiple LA Fitness locations covering several towns was arrested Tuesday morning while leaving the Farmington location on Southeast Road.

Robert Bailey, 49, of Manchester, was in possession of stolen items when he was apprehended, as well as a car stolen from Hartford, police said.

He was charged with third-degree larceny, criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. Bond was set at $10,000.

Bailey is accused of stealing items and car keys from the locker room at the gym, then stealing a car from the lot. He is suspected of similar crimes at LA Fitness locations in Newington and South Windsor, police said.

Investigations are ongoing, and more charges are expected to be filed from other jurisdictions, police said.
