Manchester Man Charged With Cruelty to Animals

A dog may lose an eye and a man ​has been charged with cruelty to animals following a Fourth of July incident, police said.

MANCHESTER, CT — A man has been charged with cruelty to animals following a Fourth of July incident, police and judicial system records show.

Davey Cortez, 41, posted a $2,500 bond in the case and is due in court on July 24, according to judicial system records. Police records show the call was at 109 Oxford Street for an animal complaint from a neighbor.

According to a WFSB report, police said the the right eye of a chihuahua was bleeding at the home and a local veterinarian later said the eye might be lost.

Police said they saw another chihuahua on the property that appeared to be afraid of Cortez, according to the WFSB report.
