Manchester Man Charged With DUI, Motor Vehicle Assault After Accident Involving Wheelchair-Bound Pedestrian

Ronald Maillet, a 62-year-old Grissom Road resident, is facing charges of assault and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after an accident involving a wheelchair-bound pedestrian.

Town police have arrested a man for allegedly hitting a person who was traveling in a wheelchair along Tolland Turnpike Thursday evening.

According to information provided by the Manchester Police Department, Ronald Maillet, 62, of Grissom Road, is charged with second-degree assault with motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive right after an accident involving the wheelchair-bound pedestrian.

Maillet posted his $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Center Street March 3.

The Hartford Courant reported that the wheelchair-bound pedestrian was "seriously injured" in the accident and was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. The victim's identity or condition were not available Friday afternoon.
