
Edward "Eddie" DeVoe Jr., of Ellington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at his home. He was 61.
Born in 1955 at Hartford Hospital to Edward R. DeVoe Sr., and the late Janice (Edwards) Adams, he lived most of his life in Manchester, graduating in 1973 from Manchester High School. After a short tour in the U.S. Army he was employed in many different fields. He most enjoyed his teaching position at Assumption Junior High School where he was also the Girls Baseball, Soccer and his favorite the Girls Basketball team coach with his father. Ed worked as a freelance writer and artist as well and was published in the Journal Inquirer, Hartford Women Magazine, Catholic Transcript, East Hartford Gazette, Manchester Evening Herald, Protection Magazine and the MCC Cougar where he was also the Editor. Ed graduated from MCC in 1991.
He loved all kinds of music, art, movies, UCONN sports, The Yankees and his beloved Colts. He had a great sense of humor, was very witty and enjoyed playing the guitar, drums and other instruments.

Along with his father, Ed DeVoe of Rocky Hill he leaves behind, his Uncle Henry and Aunt Diane Edwards of Ellington, Uncle Frank Brett of Georgia; his sisters, Lisa Boyles and her husband Sam of Palmer, Alaska, an Susan Scheer and her husband Teddy of Manchester; his brother, John Adams of Manchester, his nieces and nephew, Amber, Tara, Aimee and Zach, and many cousins and friends.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Ladd Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., Vernon. Services and burial will be private at the request of his family.
