Manchester Obituary: Raymond Dorsey, 66

Condolences to his family and friends.

Raymond A. Dorsey, 66, of Berlin, beloved husband of Teresa “Teri” (Walsh) Dorsey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2015.

Born on February 19, 1949 in New Britain, Ray was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Baloga) Dorsey. Ray served in the Army National Guard stationed at Fort Benning during the 1970’s. He attended Central Connecticut State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, a Masters of Education, and a sixth year certificate. As an educator, Ray taught math for grades 7-12 in the Manchester CT public school system. He retired after 34 years of service. In his leisure time he was an avid horseracing enthusiast.

Besides his wife Teresa, Ray is survived by his brother Ronald Dorsey and his wife Maryann of Berlin, his sister-in-law, Colleen Cunningham and her husband Tim of Farmington, his brother-in-law, Thomas Walsh and his wife Darcy of E. Granby, and several nieces and nephews, especially Laura Cunningham with whom he shared a close relationship. Several dear friends including Bo Cuprak of Coventry and Ezzio Partesano of E. Berlin also survive him. Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Edward, and his first wife of 19 years, Barbara (Powchak) Dorsey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.

The Newington Memorial Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
