Manchester Obituary: Sylvia Rood, 94

Sylvia (Woodhall) Rood, 94, of Manchester, cherished wife of the late William R. Rood, passed peacefully, Sunday March 13, 2016 at Woodlake of Tolland, surrounded by her family.

Sylvia was born January 28, 1922 in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late Frank & Viola (Carpenter) Woodhall. She was a faithful member of South United Methodist Church in Manchester. Sylvia loved spending time with her family at Cape Cod and Lake George.

In addition to her late husband, Sylvia was predeceased by her son Jonathan Rood and her sister Dorothy Lowe. She is survived by two sons, Gregory Rood and his wife Karen of Centerville, MA., David Rood and his wife Linda of Manchester, six grandchildren, Matthew Rood and his wife Megan, Emily (Rood) Rouleau and her husband Jason, Amanda (Rood) Maggs and her husband Charley, Olivia Rood, Dr. Cailyn Rood and her fiancé Jessica Hughes and Douglas Rood; five great grandchildren, William, Daniel and Sarah Rood and Benjamin and Zachary Rouleau.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be private in the East Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
