Manchester Officials Get Up-Close Look At What Firefighters Do
Manchester officials participated in the Fire Ops program this week.

MANCHESTER, CT — Officials in Manchester this week were able to get an up-close look at firefighters and what they do.
The Manchester Board of Directions, Town Manager Steve Stephanou, Assistant Town Manager Kasia Purciello and other officials participated in the Fire Ops program, in which they gained a first-hand look into the daily lives of Manchester Fire Rescue EMS first responders.
It's all part of community engagement. fire officials said.

"As first responders, our mission is to serve and protect the Manchester community. The Fire Ops program provides a unique opportunity to share our experiences and educate community leaders about the critical work we do," Manchester Fire-Rescue-EMS Chief, Daniel French said. "This type of first-hand experience helps to foster a deeper appreciation for the challenges and rewards of being a first responder."
Exercises included dealing with a bonfire and approaching a smoking building.
