Manchester Open Returns Aug. 2-3, Bringing Top Golfers To Historic Manchester Country Club

MANCHESTER, CT — Some of Connecticut's top amateur and club professional golfers will compete Sunday and Monday as the annual Manchester Open returns to Manchester Country Club for its 2026 edition.

The two-day tournament is scheduled for Aug. 2 and 3, with amateur golfers teeing off Sunday and the professional division taking the course Monday. The event is one of Connecticut's longest-running local golf tournaments and annually attracts competitors from across the state.

Open to both club members and qualified nonmembers, the Manchester Open is known for challenging playing conditions that include thick rough, fast greens and demanding pin placements. Spectators and caddies are welcome throughout the tournament.

The tournament is played at Manchester Country Club, a course that opened in 1917 and was originally designed by Tom Bendelow and Devereux Emmet. In 1935, the layout was redesigned by noted golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast, whose portfolio also includes Winged Foot, Baltusrol and Bethpage Black.

Measuring approximately 6,200 yards, the course is known for its small, sloping greens and strategically placed bunkers that reward precision and course management over power.

The Manchester Open has become a summer tradition in Connecticut golf, offering amateurs and club professionals the opportunity to test their skills on one of the state's most historic and respected courses.
