'Suspicious Message' Sends Explosives Team To Manchester Church

Manchester police are investigating what they are calling a "suspicious message" found at a local church Monday morning.

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police and a state police bomb squad dog searched a local church Monday morning after a "suspicious message" appeared in a computer message.

Police at 11 a.m. said they were at St. Bridget Church after the message was discovered. A parish employee discovered it, police said. According to a report, the message read, "If you're reading this, get out of the building NOW."

The building was evacuated as a precaution and a state police explosives dog team and local police searched the building, according to a report. No "suspecious items" were located, according to a report.

The area around the church and school, located at 80 Main St., was declared safe about an hour later, police said.

"We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of the school community," police said. Investigators were at the scene into the afternoon hours.
