Manchester Residents Warned About 'Power Shut Off' Scam

Police have sent out a warning to Manchester residents about a "sophisticated scam."

MANCHESTER, CT — Police have sent out a warning to Manchester residents about a "sophisticated scam" involving calls claiming to be from Eversource Energy.

Police said the calls claim power will be shut off due to non-payment.
The caller ID reads "Eversource" and the call back number has a recording similar to an Eversource recording, according to the warning.

Police are advising residents and business owners to "use caution" when receiving similar calls and to not give out payment information over the phone unless initiating the call. Always call the phone number listed on the monthly bill, police said.
