Manchester Caught in Sam's Club Closing Wave
Several Sam's Club stores are being closed.

MANCHESTER, CT — It seems the Manchester Sam's Club will be closing in a rash of store shuttering by Parent Wal-Mart Inc.
The Sam's Club in Orange closed abruptly on Thursday, the New Haven Register reported. The store, located on the Boston Post Road, was closed without notice and no explanation, according to the Register.
Manchester Planning officials said they were notified of the local closing Thursday and said Jan. 26 is the target date for the store in the Buckland Hills shopping district.

The Orange and Manchester locations were no longer listed on the Sam's Club website on Thursday. A pleasant but perplexing message on the Manchester Sam's Club phone number said the store was closed Thursday but would re-open Friday.
"I suspect the store will be open for two weeks then close permanently," town economic and planning Director Gary Anderson said Thursday.
