Manchester, Vernon Police Sharing Notes on Bank Robberies
The incidents were just days apart.
VERNON/MANCHESTER, CT — Police in Vernon and Manchester are working together to see it there is any connection to bank robberies in the respective towns four days apart.
"We are working with Manchester detectives looking into that possibility," Vernon police spokesman Det. James Grady said on Wednesday.
On Sept. 8, at approximately 9:15 a.m., the Vernon Police Department received a 911 call from an employee at the FineX Credit Union, 62 Hyde Avenue (state Route 30), near the Tolland town line, reporting an attempted robbery.

It was reported that a white male walked into the bank carrying a note demanding.
A clerk working at the credit union told the suspect that she did not have access to cash and the suspect then fled the bank on foot, police said.

There was no weapon displayed or implied.
Vernon police were immediately dispatched and began searching the area for the suspect. A state police canine unit assisted with the search for the suspect.
The search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
The suspect is being described as a white male with a beard, wearing a green baseball cap, blue plaid shirt and blue jeans. The bank surveillance cameras captured pictures the suspect.

On Sept. 12, Manchester police were called to a bank robbery on Main Street.
Police spokesman Capt. Christopher Davis said the incident took place at about 10:15 a.m. at the Webster Bank, 1041 Main St.
He said a white male about 35 wearing a dark gray hoodie and a blue baseball hat, handed a teller a note indicating he had a gun.
Police released a security camera image of the suspect.
After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect left the area, Davis said. Nobody was injured during the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the MPD Detective Division at (860) 645-5510.
