Margaret Andreo, 85, Manchester Resident Since 1952

Margaret M. “Peggy” Andreo, 85, of Manchester, beloved wife of 62 years to her devoted husband Loren J. “Andy” Andreo, passed away Tuesday, Jan., 13, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late John and Margarite (Fox) Kells. Peggy was raised in Cranston, RI and graduated from St. Xavier Academy in Rhode Island. She worked as a long-distance operator at New England Telephone until her marriage on June 21, 1952.

After marriage, she relocated to Manchester and has been a lifelong resident ever since. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, raising her family of six children and was a tremendous asset and supporter of her husband in developing his business entities.

A founding member and communicant of the Church of the Assumption, she was also a great supporter and benefactor of both Assumption School and East Catholic High School. In 2011, The Most Rev. Archbishop Henry J. Mansell awarded a St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation to Margaret for her outstanding devotion and service to the church.

She was a member of the Manchester Art Club, enjoyed painting, playing the piano, traveling and especially spending her summers in Westerly, RI with her family.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Loren Andreo Jr. and his wife Janet of West Simsbury, Michael Andreo and his wife Victoria of Tolland, Mary Randazzo and her husband Paul of Glastonbury, Karen Marandino and her husband Dominic Jr. of South Windsor, John Andreo and his wife Karen of South Windsor, Ann Brazel and her husband David of Glastonbury; her 22 grandchildren Loren III and wife Katja, Melissa and husband Joseph, Meghan and husband Chris, Michelle, Dana, Paul and wife Rebecca, Matthew and wife Katlyn, Michael, Margaret and husband Robert, Christina and husband Brendan, Andrea, Dominic III, Lauren, John Jr., Jennifer, Nicholas, Christie, Jacalyn, Katherine, Peter, Patrick and Kara; and 5 great-grandchildren, Eric, Julianna, Gabriel, Jack and Brendan Jr.

She is also survived by her brother, John Kells of Charlestown, RI, special friend Thomas Moriarty, his family and many loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves her pets, her canine companion J.D. and her cat Margie.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Kells and Gerard Kells.

Peggy’s family would like to offer a special note of thanks to Lori Ann Parsells, her loving caregiver for the past several years, and Dr. Mirza, Dr. Lahiri, Dr. Shree and the entire medical team at St. Francis Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, 27 Adams St. South, Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery. Please meet directly at the church.

Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester on Friday, Jan. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m.
