Menopause Symptoms (UR Community Cares)

This May, we join the national celebration of Older Americans Month 2025, embracing the theme “Flip the Script on Aging.” It’s a powerful reminder to challenge outdated narratives and celebrate the strength, purpose, and vitality that come with age.

At UR Community Cares, we’re highlighting women’s health and menopause awareness as part of this conversation. Menopause is a significant life stage that deserves open dialogue, support, and resources, not silence or stigma. By focusing on education, wellness, and empowerment, we’re creating space for women to thrive in every chapter of life.

Let’s honor aging as a time of growth, connection, and renewed purpose—for all.

Normalizing symptoms of Menopause/Perimenopause

A growing number of women are joining the movement by creating their own "We Do Not Care" (WDNC) Chapters or Clubs—spaces dedicated to confidence, humor, and unapologetic self-expression. If you're interested in starting a chapter in your area, we’d love to hear from you!
The movement was started by an inspiring and hilarious woman whose voice has resonated with thousands. Here’s a recent poem she shared that perfectly captures the spirit of WDNC. If you want to find her on TikTok, here is her information.

Title “My I Do Not Care Era” by @Justbeingmelanie

I'm a woman, a 40-something woman walking into rooms like I built them, with hips that don't apologize and a smile that don't flinch.
This ain't confidence, this is freedom.
This is, I don't have time to pray for your freedom, this is stretch marks skin and soft belly wisdom that whispers, she survived.
And not just survived, she’s thriving.
I don’t care if I'm not your cup of tea. I'm a whole French press dark bold full body and ain't sugarcoating nothing for nobody.
I've worn the mask, I've bitten my tongue, I squeezed into jeans 2 sizes too young, trying to fit into a version of me folks felt more comfortable with, but tonight, tonight, I pull up with truth with lies that touch and with peace you can't.
I am curves and clarity. I am stretched and still. I am not your, you still look good for your age, compliment, I look good!
Because I am good.
I'm bothered. Unabashedly so.
I don't care if my joy is too loud or my silence is too thick.
I don't care my edges ain't laid or my laugh makes you hate.
I care about breathing, I care about healing. I care about loving myself when no one's watching.
And baby, I so care about living, not just existing. So call it what you want, midlife, grown, glow up, slow up, call it whatever helps you sleep.
But know this. I am not in my prime. I am the Prime.
And I’m sitting pretty right in the middle of my, I DO NOT CARE ERA and goodness, it feels good.

Many of us struggle in silence, now we have an opportunity to have an online support group, the comedy helps, the comments are incredible and the sarcasm is unmatched. I am a Proud Member of the WDNC Club,
