Manchester Community College's award-winning culinary arts program is open for registration.

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester Community College’s award-winning culinary arts program is open for registration. The program is currently ranked No. 4 among East Coast colleges by Best Choice Schools.
Information sessions have been slated for four Wednesdays — April 24, May 1, May 15 and May 22 — from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Culinary Arts Center, room L294.
The program is designed to teach the "tools to be successful" in restaurants and kitchens of food services for business and industry dining, health-care facilities and schools, as well as for catering businesses.

The Culinary Arts program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Educational Institute.
In addition to classroom and laboratory study, students participate in an individually-planned, 300-hour cooperative work experience program, earning credit toward graduation while employed.

MCC has articulation agreements that allow transfers to baccalaureate institutions like Johnson & Wales University, Paul Smith’s College, Mitchell College and the New England Culinary Institute.
A service learning component provides opportunities for students to participate in preparing and serving soups for Foodshare’s annual Empty Bowls Project in October. In addition, students can participate in on-campus clubs that work with local charities, as well as the college’s own Cougar Pantry.
Students have been placed in internships with employers including On20, Compass, Sodexo, the Hartford Public School System and Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos, and they have landed jobs upon graduation at upscale restaurants, institutional food services, corporate dining services, golf clubs and hotels.
Degrees and certificates offered include Culinary Arts, A.S.; Culinary Arts certificate, and Professional Baker certificate, and students can also earn double associate degrees in Culinary Arts along with Foodservice Management or Hotel-Tourism. The program also offers courses leading to nationally recognized credentials as a certified cook.
