Money Smart Week® at the Manchester Public Library

Library Offers Programs To save You Money And Protect Your Savings

Money Smart Week® (MSW) is a national public awareness campaign coordinated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to help individuals and families better manage their personal finances. The program is now active in all 50 states through national partnerships with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Cooperative Extension and the American Library Association. This year MSW runs from April 22-29. As a partner library Manchester will be offering two free programs:

"Couponing 101" with Gina Juliano will take place on Monday, April 24, 2017, 6:00-8:00pm. The "Coupon Lady" will give an introduction to saving money by the effective use of coupons. Topics include how to cut at least 50% off your grocery bill, how to never pay for health and beauty items, how to get free samples delivered to your door, and much, much more.

The Connecticut Better Business Bureau will present "Avoiding Identity Theft and Other Scams" at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 25th. Identity theft and identity fraud are terms used to refer to all types of crime in which someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person's personal data in some way that involves fraud or deception, typically for economic gain. Senior citizens should be especially aware of fraud schemes targeting their lifestyle and savings. The CT BBB will offer tips on how to protect yourself and family members.
