Mr. Allenston Sheridan Attains the Rank of Master

Grandmaster Joel Waldron, Owner of The Academy of Martial Arts & Personal Development in Manchester, CT, is proud to announce the latest promotion of Mr. Allenston Sheridan to the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt. With this rank, comes the honorific title of “Master Instructor”.

Master Sheridan began his training on October 3, 1995, as one of the Academy's first students. Over the last 20 years, Master Sheridan not only excelled at martial arts, but also at school. He went on to study law, and has since returned to his hometown of Manchester to practice with the Diana, Conti & Tunila Law Firm. Master Sheridan credits his martial arts training to his many successes in life, saying, “In addition to teaching me how to defend myself, I have learned good fitness habits, I have learned to focus my mind, and I have learned to push myself to do my very best, even when I do not have someone else there to push me.” When asked to reflect back on his 20 years of training at the Academy, Master sheridan said, “There are many people that are still here that I find very difficult to call ‘friends’ because of how much we have been through coming up the ranks. Instead, I call them my brothers and sisters. After training at the Academy for over 20 years, martial arts is no longer simply an activity, but a way of life. This art has an impact on everything I do on a daily basis. The reputation that I have developed in my community and in my career. Often times, when I interact with be people, they can tell that there is something ‘different’ about me. That something ‘different’ is always positive, and I have the Academy of Martial arts to thank for that.”
