Murder Charge Levied In Manchester Shooting Case

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police have made a murder arrest related to a January shooting on Eldridge Street.

Millard Jackson, 27, was charged Tuesday with murder, the criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of ammunition. Jackson was served a warrant at Manchester Superior Court, where was appearing for other charges that include burglary, risk of injury to a child and drug sales, police said.

Another $1 million was added to the $100,100 in bonds already assigned to Jackson, police said. He remained in custody on Wednesday.

The shooting took place on Jan. 21, police said. At 1:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at 158 Eldridge St. Officers located a man, later identified as 45-year-old Joseph Swan, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Swan was transported to Manchester Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
