New Fiscal Year Means Slight Tax Increases in Manchester

The fiscal year begins July 1.

MANCHESTER, CT - The beginning of the new fiscal year on July 1 means a slight increase in taxes for Manchester property owners.

But, town officials said, it is the smallest boost in about a decade.

The 2016-17 fiscal year budget takes effect on July 1 and carries a general fund expenditure total of $183.5 million. The tax rate will go up from its current level of 34.68 mills to 34.85 mills. One mill is equal to $1 for every $1,000 in assessed value, so the tax rate means property owners will pay $34.85 cents for every $1,000 in value.
