New Ice Cream Shop Coming To Downtown Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — A new ice cream shop is coming to Downtown Manchester this spring and its name will sound a bit familiar.

That's right, the owners of Center Perk said Thursday that they will be opening Center Scoop a short distance away on Main Street. They are sisters who will now run sister shops.

Center Perk is located at No. 639 and Center Scoop is slated to open at No. 629, said Christine Bedrossian, one of the owners.

No. 629 is the old Electrolux building.

Bedrossian said there has been ongoing banter about her and her sister, Kimberly Barrett, opening a smoothie shop. Their landlord has insisted they give it a shot, she joked.

"The he came in and said, 'you know... ' and told us Elecrolux was available," Bedrosian said. "We were thinking smoothies and ice cream and he then said we had 24 hours to decide because he had other offers."

The plan is for Bedrossian to run Center Perk and and for Barrett to run Center Scoop ... so far, Bedrossian said.
